DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS:   TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 2, 2008,  E-DAY 
TOMORROW at 1:00 pm. Dr. Pomeroy (Dept. Head at the Marine Resource Econ. Dept.) will make a presentation to seniors about Marine Economics. The presentation will be held at the Library Media Center.
Are you interested in learning how to tie flies for fly fishing? Do you know how but want to get better? Listen up! There will be a free seminar this Sunday, March 2 in Berlin CT sponsored by The Connecticut Rhode Island Coastal Fly Fishers. They have issued a special invitation to Sound School students who are interested in fly tying. It’s a great opportunity to learn to tie a fly with an experienced tier. This is a terrific opportunity to learn all about the sport from a group of enthusiastic fly fishers. If you are interested in attending, please see Jack Walsh, Room 718 Foote, to sign up for the event. 

The Agricultural Science and Technology Directed Lab will meet TODAY, TOMORROW and Thursday from 2:30-5:30 at the Pardee Greenhouses in Hamden 

Congratulations to Yael Grazier-Zerbarini and Blake DiMaio for placing 2nd and 3rd in the Dalzenia Henry African American History Month High School Arts Competition. Awards were given out at the New Haven People’s Center Feb 24. Amanda Bartram received honorable mention as well.

Culture and Motion will meet Friday C per. flex in DD Hamilton’s room rm 424 Thomas Building

Paula is recruiting for a launch operator position for the New Haven Yacht Club for the upcoming season. You must be 16 and have a safe boating certificate. You do not need a launch operator’s license. If you are interested please see Paula as soon as possible.

Don’t know what to do with empty ink cartridges and old, used or broken cell phones?  Want them to be used for a good cause that will protect the environment? Well, the Senior ROV team is holding a Cell phone and ink jet cartridge collection; they are looking for used, old, or broken cell phones as well as inkjet cartridges.  You can bring them to Emerson 203 or look for collection boxes in the other buildings. They will be recycled and the materials reused for new products. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated. Any questions: please talk to any Senior ROV team members or Dave Low.

Interested in Banking? – The FFA – Student Enterprise Group is offering informational sessions TODAY and TOMORROW after school.  We are preparing to open an on-site, student run credit union and we are looking for (4-6) students who would like to help run the bank. Selected students will receive training from United Shoreline Credit Union and will work on site to manage this student run bank.  Any student interested in banking, learning about money, getting SOE as well as enhancing that college resume should attend one of these sessions.  They will run from 2:45pm to 3:00  pm in room 711 of the Foote Building.
Have an idea for the school store? We are looking for new and creative students to get involved in the Student Enterprise Group.  All studentinterested in learning how to get involved are asked to stop by the school store and help with the planning for St Patrick’s Day and Mother’s Day activities.  SOE hours will be provided. 
Lastly, Denim Shirts and Fleeces are in……they both have the Sound School logo……be sure to stop by the school store to get yours

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS:  TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, 2008, F-DAY 
THE SCHOOL STORE WILL BE OPEN DURING FLEX IN ORDER TO TAKE ORDERS AND SELL THE VALENTINES DAY ROSES.

The FFA – Student Enterprise Group has the following Announcements
1)  Applications for the Yale Entreprenurial Workshop are no longer being accepted.   Additional details regarding the seminar will be announced before February break.  Please listen to the announcements or see Steve Joseph for specific details.  The intent is to let everyone know the specifics before February break.
2) Interested in Banking? – The FFA – Student Enterprise Group is offering informational sessions this Tuesday and Wednesay after school.  We are preparing to open an on-site, student run credit union and we are looking for (4-6) students who would like to help run the bank. Selected students will receive training from United Shoreline Credit Union and will work on site to manage this student run bank.  Any student interested in banking, learning about money, getting SOE as well as enhancing that college resume should attend one of these sessions.  They will run from 2:45pm to 3:15 pm in room 711 of the Foote Building this Tuesday and Wednesday.
) Valentines Day – The School store will be open during flex this Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Place your order for the Valentine’s Day roses in advance.  We are teamimg up with The Ag program to offer individually wrapped roses ,  delivered to someone someone for $2 per rose.  In addition, Michelle Sheehan is running a Valentine’s Day Raffle, tickets are $1 each.
 
Also – We need students to sell roses in the cafeteria during the lunch waves.  All interested students should stop by The School Store to sign up for shift.  Please bring your class schedule with you. 
4) GOT SOE Hours?  We are always looking for new students to get involved in the Student  Enterprise Group.  Any student who is interested in earning SOE hours is  strongly encouraged to stop by the school store and ask how you can get involved.  Our mission is Learning To Do – Doing To Learn – Earning To Live – Living To Serve.
5) Denim Shirts and Fleeces are in .  Stop by the school store to get yours.  Kevin Kelly – your fleece is in, please stop by to pick it up
This is a quick reminder for the sailing club:  Members of the JY team should meet again after school in the library classroom.  Those club members signed up for maintenance should meet in the Thomas boat shop.  There will be another sharpie maintenance day on Thursday.
SAT prep class is back!!!! Starting Thursday from 2:45 – 4:00 If you want to continue or are new to join please sign up in Anderson 616. SAT prep class meets in John Buell’s room.

DAILY ANNOUNCEMENTS: THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 7, 2008, C-DAY 
The FFA – Student Enterprise Group has the following IMPORTANT Announcements
1) Attention Entreprenuers – The FFA – Student Enterprise Group is accepting applications for those interested in attending workshops offered by The Yale Entreprenuerial Society (YES).  These workshops will meet on Yale’s Campus and transportation will be provided.  This is an exciting program and all motivated students are encouraged to fill out an application.  The application deadline is this Friday.  SOE hours are available and this will stand out on college applications.
3) Are you good at taking care of salt water aquariums?  The FFA – Student Enterprise Group has a newly created opening for someone to start up and maintain a coral propagation tank within the School Store in addition to generating sales.  The ideal candidate will have a good working relationship with the Fish Production Lab, basic saltwater aquarium knowledge, basic internet knowledge, a willingness to sell product via Aquabay and Ebay and strong customer service skills.  This is a hands on, sky is the limit opportuntiy.  SOE hours available – To get more info and get involved please see Steve Joseph.

Seniors…If you plan to go to College in the fall, now is the time for you to begin working on your college financial aid application (FAFSA). On SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10TH, 2008 at   1:30pm. volunteers from Ct. college financial aid offices and community agencies will be available at   Gateway Comm. College (Long Wharf).

Reminder: Second Marking Period Report Card Conferences will be held  TONIGHT from 6-7:30PM in the Foote Building.
There will be a mandatory meeting today of the Ecos Restoration Directed Lab afterschool from 2:30 to 4:30 in Mr. Bonang’s room.

4) The School Store, a division of the FFA – Student Enterprise Group, will be open TONIGHT for report card night – this will be a great time to purchase Sound School Apparel.  We have new hats, sweatshirts, totebags, windbreakers, denim shirts as well as a host of other products with our logo that you can wear to show your Pride in our School.  If we don’t have your size you can order it, if you don’t have money, we can put it on lay-away.  Please come support The Senior Class, The Sailing Team, The Rowing Team, The FFA – Afterschool Recreational Fishing Chapter as well as our FFA – Student Entreprenuers (Heather Ewry and Pat Vogt)
In addition, we will be running a pre-valentine rose sale as well as a winter scarf sale.  The doors open at 5:30 pm.

You can help the Sound School win up to $5000.00 while you can learn about ways to help the school reduce it’s carbon footprint. Two students from Yale have volunteered to work with the Sound School team and we will be meeting on Thursdays after school. If you are a creative thinker, care about Global Warming and reducing energy consumption please see Jeff Alpert during flex on Wednesday Feb 6th in Room 761. This activity will earn you S.O.E. credits too. The team will consist of only 5 students so if are truly interested come to the informational meeting and find out how you can make a difference!!!!.

All students interested in attending an exciting and rewarding entreprenueurial workshop offered by Yale University should see Steve Joseph as soon as possible.  The Yale Entreprenuerial Society (or YES) is working with Sound School to offer selected students comprehensive training on writing business plans and establishing connections with local businessmen and women. The dates are February 25th, March 3rd, March 24th and April 21st from 3-4:30pm SOE hours will be given, rides will be provided  This is an awesome opportunity – DON”T miss out – get involved. All Fright Haven participants, we will be taking a yearbook picture in the lobby of the Foote Building during flex   TODAY . please wear your Fright Haven shirts.

Report Card Conferences 2/6!
